Demonstrated Capacity Technical and non-Technical Energy Losses Management for Eskom Distribution

The Energy Losses Management Programme focuses on minimising the Total Energy Losses experienced by the Distribution arm of the utility giant, Eskom. Energy Losses are made up of two factors: technical losses and non-technical losses. Technical losses in power delivery systems are caused by the physical properties of the components of the power system which can be computed and brought under control (mainly copper losses, also known as I2R losses and, to a lesser extent, the iron losses caused by the core magnetisation in transformers). Non-technical losses are caused either by actions external to the power system or by loads and conditions that the technical loss computation fails to take into account. In all non-technical cases, energy has been delivered but not accounted for in sales.
